This seems to be a trend
nowadays among tertiary institutions, as they tend to increase fees paid by
their students. Most times, the authorities calm the students down with empty
promises that will have no visible result in the long-run, just to prevent outbursts
and riots.
I must advice, this isn't good at all, as we all know that money isn't easy to come across and fees paid
in some universities are already too high.
Below is a written complaint we
received recently from a student of 'Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD)’.

"Afe Babalola University
has done it again, they said there was no increase in school fees, well it is a
huge lie, the fees were increased for 200 level returning students, they
formerly tried increasing it but the whole school revolted and now they are trying
to keep other sets happy and make money off the 200 level students and continue
like this until all previous sets graduate and then they make it a norm, they
think that the pressure will be less if only one set is affected. Last year we
paid 1.5 million for fees, that's not to be questioned but as we are no more
freshers our fees ought to reduce, it’s a norm. Now the difference between our
fees and that of the freshers is a miserly 62k. We are being made to pay more
for what our predecessors got for less, this is not Harvard why should we pay
such and without prior warning. This is clearly a highly perfected scam.
This is a protest, please
send this to all your friends and contacts, those is ABUAD and those who are
not, those in 200 level and those who are not. We need to change things, if you
are dissatisfied with the fee increase please forward and if you are not
bothered please consider all those whose parents suffer yearly just to pay
fees, let's provide some respite for them."
