Some Quotes By Late Dr. Myles Munroe

Dr. Myles Munroe

He might be gone but his teachings still touch us in different ways.
Late Myles Munroe will be forever etched in our lives.

Here are some of his famous quotes...

1. “Solid character will reflect itself in consistent behavior, while poor character will seek to hide behind deceptive words and actions.”

2. “The greatest tragedy in life is not death, but a life without a purpose.”

3. “People generally fall into one of three groups: the few who make things happen, the many who watch things happen, and the overwhelming majority who have no notion of what happens. Every person is either a creator of fact or a creature of circumstance. He either puts color into his environment, or, like a chameleon, takes color from his environment.”

4. “You must decide if you are going to rob the world or bless it with the rich, valuable, potent, untapped resources locked away within you.”

Fees On The Increase

This seems to be a trend nowadays among tertiary institutions, as they tend to increase fees paid by their students. Most times, the authorities calm the students down with empty promises that will have no visible result in the long-run, just to prevent outbursts and riots.
I must advice, this isn't good at all, as we all know that money isn't easy to come across and fees paid in some universities are already too high.

Below is a written complaint we received recently from a student of 'Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD)’.

A.B.U.A.D
"Afe Babalola University has done it again, they said there was no increase in school fees, well it is a huge lie, the fees were increased for 200 level returning students, they formerly tried increasing it but the whole school revolted and now they are trying to keep other sets happy and make money off the 200 level students and continue like this until all previous sets graduate and then they make it a norm, they think that the pressure will be less if only one set is affected. Last year we paid 1.5 million for fees, that's not to be questioned but as we are no more freshers our fees ought to reduce, it’s a norm. Now the difference between our fees and that of the freshers is a miserly 62k. We are being made to pay more for what our predecessors got for less, this is not Harvard why should we pay such and without prior warning. This is clearly a highly perfected scam.

This is a protest, please send this to all your friends and contacts, those is ABUAD and those who are not, those in 200 level and those who are not. We need to change things, if you are dissatisfied with the fee increase please forward and if you are not bothered please consider all those whose parents suffer yearly just to pay fees, let's provide some respite for them."

What's your take on this issue?

EBOLA VIRUS

Things you need to know about Ebola Virus to stay SAFE

1. It is a Central African disease that has traveled over countries in a living host to West Africa. It is easily spread by physical contact and eating contaminated bush meat. Major hosts are in 5 species of Bats but monkeys and apes are easily infected and killed.

2. It kills in a week, leaving no time to treat an individual.

3. It has no known vaccine or cure

4. Known cases have been experienced recently in Guniea, Liberia and Central Africa Rep, spreading eastwards and westwards towards Nigeria. Death toll so far in West Africa is over 100.

5. The Ebola outbreak of 2014 is the most challenging one witnessed in Africa.

What we can do?

1. Avoid eating any bush meat for now! Especially Apes and Bats.

2. Wash your hands as regularly as possible, especially after shaking a stranger. It is spread by contact.

3. The most straight forward prevention method during Ebola outbreaks is not touching patients, their excretions, and body fluids, or possibly contaminated materials and utensils. Patients should be isolated, and medical staff should be trained and apply strict barrier nursing techniques (disposable face mask, gloves, goggles, and a gown at all times).

4. Traditional burial rituals, especially those requiring embalming of bodies, should be discouraged or modified.

Awareness is key, don’t just read or ignore...
Spread this campaign before the virus spreads!

CRISIS IN UNN

PG vs UNDER-G
(Pictures and videos included)

On Saturday 19th July, 2014, the University of Nigeria, Nsukka - the region called Franco specifically witnessed a very terrible unrest, according to eye witness report this is how it went down.

On Saturday night when the Franco gen was put on, the residents of Mbanefo Hall (a boys’ hostel in UNN) noticed they were disconnected from the gen light so the students there went to the gen house and disconnected the light from reaching other hostels too. When this happened the other boys in Eni-Njoku hall and Alvan Ikoku hall decided to go on a rally around Franco area alongside their brothers from Mbanefo, to express their unity and show that whatever happens to one affects all.

As this was going on, a group of boys entered into another hostel still in Franco area, Odili hall, which is mainly for Post Graduate (PG) students. As they entered with their rally and noise-making, but the PG students didn’t take it lightly with them, instead they caught one of the students and beat him up, unfortunately for the boy, his hand broke during the beating.

When this disturbing news reached the boys in the others hostels, they decided to retaliate with force by throwing stones at the glasses, lights and cars around the PG hostel. This continued and in the bid to defend themselves, the PG students also threw glasses and stones back which resulted in casualties as some boys were carried to the University’s Medical Centre that night.

With the aid of some officials who were on duty that night, the issue was temporarily settled and everyone went back to their hostels for the time being, everywhere was completely calm by 2am.

The next morning, the boys woke up early and took positions in front of the PG hall, not letting anyone out while they teased the PG students by using the PG tap showing them they couldn’t do anything; a lot of stoned where thrown that hit people and the glasses around.

As a plan to stop the increasing violence that Sunday morning, the police were called but that didn’t stop the students as they rushed at the police men like an angry mob and chased them away with sticks and stones. Later on, the army was called to settle the crisis, after a lot of chasing and shots fired, Franco area became quiet once again.

Marvels Of Coca-Cola

These are few things the popular soft drink, Coca-cola can be used for other than for refreshment.

Remove Rust
To remove rust from objects, soak them in Coke overnight, then scrub in the morning. The Coke helps break up the rust, making it easier to remove with a little elbow grease. It can also be used on rusted chrome by pouring Coke on a rough cloth or scouring pad and rubbing in a circular motion.

Cheap Stain Remover
Coca-Cola is an inexpensive stain remover for clothing. Just pour a can on the soiled areas, and let it soak for a while. Then wash as normal. It even works on some stubborn stains, like grease and blood. As an added advantage, it also helps deodorize the clothing.

Relief from Stings
Coke helps ease the pain of different types of stings. Try pouring Coke on bee stings and mosquito bites, especially if you dont have any helpful topical ointment with you. Coke even helps relieve the pain from the sting of a stingray.

Eliminate Skunk Odor
To help eliminate skunk odor, mix a can of Coke with a little dish soap in a bucket of water. If you need a stronger solution, add hydrogen peroxide and baking soda to your mixture. If you have the skunk smell on yourself, pour Coke over the smelly areas (or sponge it on), and then shower off. Coke has the additional benefit of making your hair soft.
